Release Dog Adoption

Policy

Not all dogs are suitable to become assistance dogs and may be available for adoption after they have been released from the program.  Click here to read the official CCI release dog policy.  The key points of the policy are as follows:

All release dog adoptions are approved by the puppy manager at CCI headquarters in Santa Rosa, CA.  The puppy manager can be contacted by phone at 707.577.1753.

A Release Dog Application must be filled out by anyone wishing to adopt a dog and should be submitted to the puppy manager.

Release dogs are first offered for adoption to the family who raised the puppy.  No adoption fee is required.

Release dogs are then made available to the close friends or family of the puppy raiser for a $500 adoption fee.

All remaining release dogs are placed in homes by the puppy manager for a $500 adoption fee.
